Controls Software Engineer II
Qualifications
Must Have: Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree and 2 years experience.
Nice to Have:
Experience with control design including:
• Familiarity with multi-body kinematics and dynamics
• Knowledge and experience in multi-variable and optimal control
• Design of position, velocity, and torque feedback controllers
• Implementing and tuning of high-performance feedback control in software
• Signal processing experience (discrete/digital methods and algorithms)
• Proficient use of modeling & simulation software (Matlab/Simulink preferred)
• Demonstrated skills in managing priorities
• Experience working with multiple teams on concurrent, interdependent projects
• Experience with real-time software on microprocessor-based systems.
• Experience developing in a Linux environment (Ubuntu preferred)
• Integrating hardware and software, particularly in an embedded context.
• Fluency in English is required (German a plus)
Experience with relevant technologies including:
• Mechatronics
• Working knowledge of design and development of complex electromechanical systems
• Mechanical engineering (particularly high-accuracy motor-controlled mechanisms)
• Electrical engineering (particularly networked / embedded computing elements)
• Sensors and actuators
• Previous experience with robotics and multi-DOF kinematic chains
• Redundant and safety-critical systems
• Force and tactile feedback
• Surgical devices/instruments
Nice to have:
Experience in implementing fast control loops, particularly those involving motors and sensors.
Comfortable with common development tools: environments, compilers, build management software, debugging and source control tools, etc.
Comfortable debugging hardware/software challenges.
Medical product development highly desired-regulator processes, safety considerations, hands-on experience with medical/surgical devices/instruments.
Experience with a big company with matrix structures, having already worked with cross functional teams within an international environment.
In depth knowledge and application of investigative research and analysis.
Basic understanding of medical device industry, clinical use of product and competitor products.
