In this role, you will be a key member of Medtronic’s center-led Indirect Supply Management (ISM) team and will report to the ISM Ops Network leader. This is a global project-based role that allows you to partner with stakeholders across many functions, regions, and businesses to drive value. You will be assigned specific manufacturing sites and will have direct responsibility for identifying, initiating, and executing improvement projects that reduce spend and generate value within the MRO category. You will partner with the center-led category management teams to implement pan-Medtronic procurement strategies and provide critical input to drive future strategies.

A Day in the Life

As the Strategic Sourcing Project Specialist-MRO Ops Network, you will:

  • Identify, lead, and execute projects that deliver economic value to the global Operations Networks
  • Conduct complex analysis of sourcing information and present findings to purchasing and supply chain leadership for process improvement while maintaining high-quality product and service delivery.
  • Partner closely with the center-led category managers to understand and implement key pan-Medtronic strategies
  • Represent and share network and site-specific requirements and strategies with the center-led category management organization
  • Partner closely with key functions that support supply management (e.g., legal, finance, quality/compliance)
  • Ensure that manufacturing sites are being adequately supported; this includes but is not limited to consistent engagement with key stakeholders, developing and sharing dashboards with information on key metrics at a defined cadence, conducting site-level diagnostics and leading workshops to identify savings opportunities, managing supplier quality, and ensuring supply continuity
  • Support linkage between purchasing and manufacturing facilities and will serve as a communication conduit between manufacturing and the suppliers 
  • Provide business continuity support to all Supply Chain teams, sites, and work groups through coaching, observation, participation in audits and routine, and in-person engagement with an emphasis on risk mitigation, development, and execution of rules, procedures, and team building while seeking efficiency, automation, and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Facilitate the supplier capacity assurance process, including providing capacity guidance to suppliers, analyzing and proposing potential solutions for capacity constraints, and facilitating allocation discussions if required.
  • Build strong supplier relationships; serve as primary contact for issue resolution with suppliers
  • Develop robust data gathering and data quality maintenance protocols to ensure spend transparency and support the development of a baseline for sourcing cost reduction efforts
  • Initiate and implement appropriate category strategy changes
  • Create and establish internal and external benchmark analysis, including gap analysis, and required actions to achieve functional advantage
  • Lead supplier negotiation efforts
Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant sourcing experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, information systems, or business discipline plus 2 years of work experience in strategic sourcing, category management, supply chain, operations, or any functional area with demonstrated analytical and project-based acumen
  • Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI
  • Experience in leading a Category within Sourcing
  • Ability to speak and read Spanish
  • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders; Medtronic is a highly matrixed organization and having the ability to influence and leverage the matrix
  • Collaborative team player
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and in-person)

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive plan. Learn more about Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP) here

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply to others).
