A Day in the Life

As a Test Validation Engineer working at the Medtronic, you will be a critical contributor to the validation of hardware and software for the Engineering Services Team. This involves validating test methods, test fixtures, and test software to support testing for the surgical robotics teams. In addition, the role entails communication with cross-functional groups and frequent presentations at design and other team meetings.

You Will:

 

·         Work in a multi-disciplinary team developing test methods for a complex, electro-mechanical system

·         Providing guidance and oversight to test and/or analysis methods developed in support of the verification strategy

·         Create quality and safety related documentation to support validity of test and test fixture.

·         Analyzing system and/or subsystem designs and preparing verified-by-design reports

·         Analyzing data and reviewing engineering reports

·         Developing Protocols and Reports for test method validation

·         Determining regression impact from design changes

·         Analyzing data and applying statistical computations

·         File documentation, software, or drawings in depository system

·         Communicate test related activities and results with multi-disciplinary team members

·         Planning needed testing activities, and participating in program planning processes as needed

·         Classify and author test method validation protocols and reports with necessary data analysis.

·         Organize and be able to prioritize workload, meet multiple deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

Nice to Have

 

·       One or more years’ demonstrated experience and expertise with product testing, test equipment, analysis methodologies and test documentation is preferred.

·         Prior experience with working in a regulated industry is a plus

·         Experience in testing and validating tests of electro-mechanical systems is a plus. 

·         Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and proven test and/or fixture validation skills

·         Familiarity with standards, statistical analysis of test results and commonly used test equipment.

·         Working knowledge of ISO standards and understanding of engineering principles.

·         Prior experience with test method validation: measurement system analysis, Gage R&R, calibration, linearity and bias studies, etc.

·         Demonstrated ability to perform as a contributing member of cross functional teams, including quality, electronic, and mechanical engineers.

·         Analytical with strong problem-solving abilities and creative resolution skills

·         Proficient in Microsoft office programs including Excel and Word

·         Proficient in Minitab or other data analysis tools

·      Strong communication skills [oral and written] including listening; and ability to maintain clear project status and interlocks with internal project     teams and external test agencies

·         Strong interpersonal skills: function as a “team player” and work constructively and cooperatively with all team members in the best interests of the program.
