A Day in the Life


This position supports Medtronic’s commercial programs executed by the Corporate Account Manager and Strategic Account Managers (‘The SAM Team’), by leading best practice analytics, the development of best-in-class operating procedures, assisting the SAM team by developing models to analyse commercial offers for our most critical and strategic customers, leading the development of tools to monitor contract KPIs for key Strategic and Corporate agreements, improving the market share reporting for SAM and sales stakeholders, and assisting with the analysis of data to provide insight into the financial performance of Corporate and Strategic Accounts. In this role you will report into the Senior Commercial Manager and will be based in our Macquarie Park office in Sydney. This is a full time permanent position.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Senior Commercial Manager of Strategic Accounts to execute the Strategic Accounts commercial strategy by:
  • Leading the development of compelling financial modelling and pricing templates to drive ease of financial analysis and provide greater insight into the deal metrics, profitability and viability.
  • Supporting the Senior Commercial Manager, Strategic Accounts ANZ in the management of the Shared Services Rebates Team (currently based in Shanghai) by checking and reporting on rebate discrepancies to reduce risk to the ANZ business of under-accrual, or overpayment of rebate.
  • Leading the development of market share reporting & the analysis of the data to ensure it is being used to understand the market, identify incremental revenue opportunities and drive contract performance.
  • Using MS excel, Power BI, SAP and GSR platforms to:
    • Support and continuously improve the reporting and dashboards to allow Strategic Account Managers and Corporate Accounts Managers to access timely and accurate results to measure deal effectiveness. These dashboards also support sales leaders across the organization in monitoring deals and contracts.
    • Continue to support best practice rebate accrual and reporting processes by providing coaching and development to the offshore Rebates team based in Shanghai and running workshops to develop and upskill the local team.
    • Set up monthly, quarterly and annual contract performance reporting, including forecasts of business potential for major Strategic Customer contracts.
  • Building the strategy deck for business reviews internal and external customers in collaboration with the Strategic Accounts team including the Senior Strategic Accounts Director. The decks contain financial performance (showing graphs, trends), insights, challenges and opportunities to drive business growth.
  • Leading workstreams across various departments including Finance, Customer Service and Sales Teams to respond to urgent requests and investigate matters which have an impact on Corporate and Strategic Account contracts and sales performance.
  • Implementing continual process improvement and task standardisation to your day-to-day work & supporting ad hoc reporting requests in a responsive manner.
  • Reduce the complexity for the Strategic Account and Corporate Account Managers by providing excel templates, dashboards and reporting to enable fast decision making.
  • Develop and improve ANZ business performance reporting and analytics, including:
    • Team Scorecards
    • Contract Analysis & KPIs
    • Rebate Performance Trackers
    • Quarterly Business Review decks
  • Participation in strategy and planning meetings with the Operating Units and Strategic Account Team


Must Have

  • Complete Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Marketing
  • Advance Proficiency in Excel, Tableau and PowerBI


Your Profile

  • Significant experience as a commercial analyst
  • Strategic mindset with demonstrated experience in devising and implementing process improvement projects
  • Advance proficiency in MS Excel and intermediate level in PowerPoint
