This position will sit within the Infrastructure & Operations division working in the Platform Services organization. This team has a vision to provide the solid foundational platforms to enable the Medtronic business strategies. To achieve this vision, our team prioritizes innovation, speed and efficiency to ensure reliable and effective platform capabilities. There is an emphasis on accelerating the adoption of new and differentiating technology.
A Day in the Life
This position will sit under Infrastructure & Operations division working in the Platform Services organization and have accountability for working with Medtronic stakeholders to plan and implement cloud projects.
Business Partnership and Communication
- § Assist Medtronic business units with their IT project demand and requirements. Review the global placement and capabilities required to determine the optimal hosting strategy into private or public cloud.
- § Assist with cost estimation and program planning aspects. Coordinate application owner and developer teams with our agile architecture and build practices.
- § Guide and assist customer demand through self-service automation standards and through custom architecture and governance processes.
- § Maintain close and effective communication with stakeholders. Translate business objectives and requirements into technical specifications and forecasted costs.
- § Manage stakeholder expectations, providing transparency and visibility to the team priorities, sprint objectives, and commitments.
- § Act as the single point of contact to stakeholders across customers and enabling groups or vendors
- § Translate stakeholder requirements into agile user stories and epics coordinate with architecture and build functions.
Technical Guidance
- § Interact with the technical professionals within Medtronic and the external partners to provide high quality IT systems planning, design, and implementation.
- § Familiarity with cloud services, how the services scale, high availability characteristics, global differentiation of service availability, and how the service pricing works from an estimation and forecasting perspective.
- § Familiarity with modern application design concepts and the business case development associated with digital transformation.
- § Review efficiency reports with application owners to continuously improve our deployed infrastructure.
- § Provide a level of technical capability to identify gaps in services and designs relative to high availability, disaster recovery, or compliance expectations during requirements gathering and user story creation
Strategic Demand Management
§ Manage project and enhancement requirements while contributing to prioritization of demand and ensuring alignment to operational goals
- Link to architecture, PMO, business analysts, service delivery managers, and process teams to gather and validate requirements
· Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience
Nice to Have
· Strongly Preferred:
o Experience helping teams define their Cloud platform needs
o Experience with cloud solutions (AWS, Azure)
o Experience working in an Agile team and managing demand in a backlog
· Previous experience as a Systems Engineer supporting a cloud SaaS product
· Understanding of Cloud capabilities such as automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure as a Service, Software as a Service
· Understanding of cyber security concepts
· Previous experience in a regulated industry or high security setting (banking, Pharma, Medical, military)
· Proficiency in ITIL and IT Service Management practices (Incident, Problem, Change, etc)
· Well-developed social skills to build alliances around DevOps goals and accelerate processes.
