This position will be responsible for leading projects in diverse areas of the Cardiac Ablation Solutions (CAS) OU in the Cardiovascular Portfolio of Medtronic.  It’s a critical role that will directly enable CAS in advancing our capability to disrupt and lead the market in cardiac mapping and ablation solutions for arrhythmia management.  This position reports into the OU President of CAS.

Success in the role will rely heavily on the ability to manage cross-functional teams and prioritize projects, derive strategic insights, and communicate findings and perspectives to all levels of the organization, including senior and executive management.

The Business Planning Director must be detail-oriented and self-motivated, with excellent analytic, facilitation, and communication skills (both oral and written).  The Director will work collaboratively with team members across Medtronic, with emphasis on coordination of operating unit and regional activities, to manage the development of processes, tools and outputs that support strategic decision making and execution.  Will also act as an independent voice to the OU President and assist in facilitating effective decision making, coordinate the execution of strategic initiatives and manage the weekly and quarterly OU President staff meeting agenda, actions, minutes, and goals in accordance with the strategic plan. The Director will be responsible for supporting presentations to the employee base, board of directors and other internal and external partners as needed.

A Day in the Life:

  • The position will be responsible for the coordination and execution of strategic initiatives across CAS in partnership with the OU President for CAS and the CAS Leadership Team. 
  • Lead the CAS Business Transformation and Optimization efforts as CAS continues to expand the Cardiac Ablation Solutions product portfolio and has been charged with increasing our global customer centricity at the leadership level.  
  • In partnership with the CAS Leadership Team, develop the CAS annual and quarterly goals, track progress and report on performance in accordance with the strategic plan.
  • In strong partnership with HRBP, align and execute at the CAS Leadership level the important focus of inclusion and diversity strategies across CAS.
  • Partner with OU President to create site engagement plans.
  • Lead the development of content for quarterly business updates to the employee base; manage the quarterly all employee meeting activities and ensure the voice of employees are being reflected in presentations.
  • Coordinate and lead strategic initiatives among cross-functional groups/ businesses and regional partners through strategic thought and active participation in decision analysis using internal and external data, problem formulation, meeting facilitation, data collection, and communications to senior management.
  • Manage the smooth functioning of OU President’s staff by coordinating the weekly/quarterly agenda, actions and minutes, to help facilitate effective decision making and execution of strategy and in alignment with the vision and strategic direction of the organization.          
  • Independently develop and share insights to help position business for success.
  • Attracts, develops and retains a diverse team focused on operational excellence and contributing to the acceleration of the CAS business.
  • Lead and manage operating mechanisms across CAS.

Job Description:

  • Leads or leverages cross functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage projects for key business processes.
  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
  • Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.
  • Monitors the project from initiation through delivery.
  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
 

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience

Nice to Have:

  • MBA or Master's Degree 
  • Experience in medical devices, healthcare, management consulting and/or investment banking desirable
  • Experience in a Business Development and/or Strategy function
  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Demonstrated success in people or program management
  • Experience generating creative new business ideas and strategies
  • Experience leading or managing teams and change initiatives
  • Outstanding analytical abilities, financial acumen and business judgment
  • Experience in financial modeling including the ability to perform sensitivity analyses and critically interpret the results
  • Experience with developing strategic business plans
  • Strong understanding of market research techniques and ability to draw conclusions from the data
  • Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex strategies and data in a clear and concise manner
