If you are looking for a role that provides you an opportunity to lead manufacturing at one of Medtronic's key sites, come join the Eatontown, NJ Operations Site!  Main responsibilities include ownership and management of the manufacturing three (3) shifts, providing direct support to the Eatontown Leadership Team, leading a team of Sr. Manufacturing Supervisors. If you are an experienced Operations/Manufacturing leader, this is the place for you!


A Day in the Life

  • Develop, implement, and execute, comprehensive operations strategies that assure success of the organization and accountability for safety, quality, production, cost, and people.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team (direct and indirect reports) and oversee a total workforce of around 150 employees.
  • Employ lean concepts and techniques, working closely with production leadership and Operational Excellence (OpEx) to allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
  • Implement cost reduction, waste reduction, quality improvement, and productivity improvement programs to ensure attainment of key performance metrics and sustainable performance improvements.
  • Participate in company-wide initiatives to determine One Best Way practices and subsequent local implementation to improve business processes.
  • Represent Medtronic in the community and in professional organizations at a local or regional level.
  • Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.
  • Makes budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
  • Requires broad management knowledge to lead project teams in one department.

Typically has mastery level knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with broad understanding of other areas within the job function.

Management Skills:

      • Management of Financial and Material Resources, Critical Thinking, Project Management, Collaboration and Productivity Software.

Functional Skills:

      • Machining and Manufacturing Technologies, Proficient computer skills, Data Science and Analysis, Lean Manufacturing and continued improvement, Managing Quality.

Autonomy:

    • Manages large team which would typically consist of both experienced professionals and supervisors.
    • Turns the department strategy into a commercial reality by developing, communicating, and implementing business plans to achieve business results.
    • Receives assignments in objective oriented terms; has latitude to reinterpret objectives.

Organizational Impact:

    • Initiates programs or projects based on identified business and / or tactical needs.
    • Decisions impact projects or operations, affect the deadlines, resources, and funds, and the achievement of organizational objectives.
    • Typically has budget or P&L accountability for a department, function, or geography.

Innovation and Complexity:

    • Develops new objectives, new operating policies, products, processes, and standards in support of the job function strategy.
    • Problems and issues faced are complex, difficult, and undefined, and require detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem.

Communication and Influence:

    • Communicates with internal and external customers and vendors concerning ongoing operations, programs, or processes.
    • Influences across functions and businesses while balancing divergent objectives to gain cooperation of other parties.
    • May interact on issues that have externally divergent objectives.

Leadership and Talent Management:

    • Manages at least one (department, function), geography typically comprised of other People or Program managers and / or supervisors and experienced professionals.
    • Recommends strategies, goals, and plans for a group.
    • Authorizes hiring, firing, promotion, and reward within own area.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience
Nice to Have
  • Technical operations/logistics or engineering experience.
  • Excellent problem solving/analytical skills.  Self-starter able to motivate self and others with alignment of company goals.
  • Experience in data management and control use of computers and MRP/ERP systems, etc.
  • Skilled in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures.  Lean, TOC and Six-Sigma experience a plus.
  • Ability to develop plans and personnel to meet goals/deadlines and analyze reports.
  • Ability to work and communicate well with others in a diverse collaborative team environment. 
  • Good written and oral communications.
  • Proven hands-on experience in workflow, production, and personnel management.
  • The ability to multi-task, keep records current with excellent organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to dynamic fast-paced, regulated environment.

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and certain CA locations). The rate offered complies with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
