A Day in the Life
Medtronic is seeking a passionate, experienced Hardware Test Engineer to join our Billerica, MA, product manufacturing team. In this role, you will develop, run, and optimize manufacturing test procedures, isolate and communicate failures, and contribute to system troubleshooting and debugging in support of Affera’s Cardiac Ablation generator products.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned
- Provide timely support for production activities through testing.
- Develop test specifications and requirements for functional test processes.
- Troubleshoot test failures and propose efficient, quality-driven solutions.
- Design and develop test systems for electronic products.
- Provide detailed feedback and analysis on test yields.
- Maintain and repair electronic and mechanical test systems, fixtures, and equipment.
- Identify and implement opportunities for improvement in existing test systems and processes.
- Validate test systems.
- Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety rules and procedures, and participate in activities to improve the workplace for all employees.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree
- 4 years of relevant experience in electronic design and/or test development, or an advanced degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience in electronic design and/or test development
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and developing medical devices, including electro-mechanical assemblies, mechanisms, and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience with basic electronic test equipment (e.g., DMM, Oscilloscope, Hi-Pot testing).
- Ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships internally and externally.
- Strong organizational, planning, oral communication, and technical writing skills.
- Open-minded, collaborative, curious, strategic, and able to mentor others; excels in both collaborative and independent projects.
- Comfortable in highly visible individual contributor roles, presenting, and leading projects.
- Potential responsibility for transitioning projects from R&D to manufacturing.
- Experience with embedded firmware design (microcontrollers, FPGA) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Python programming for scripting is desirable.
- Experience in medical device development is a plus.
