We are currently looking for a Senior Robotic Surgery Start-up Specialist to support the business expansion of Surgical Robotics (HUGO) in Medtronic Korea, a market leader in medical technology and a $400M business growing company by double-digit each year and is recently recognized as one of the greatest workplaces in South Korea!


Day in the Life


Reporting to the Sr. Business Process Improvement Supervisor, the Sr Robotic Surgery Start-up Specialist is responsible for successful integration of a new surgical robot into a hospital, including training the hospital to clean and sterilize reusable instruments, arranging the off-site training of surgeons and supporting staff, updating surgeon preference cards, developing an inventory plan and kits for robotic procedures, raising awareness of robotic surgery, and helping to schedule the use of the robot.

This is a rare and exciting newly created position for Medtronic Korea. Frequent travelling requirement at customer sites nationwide generally in Seoul and other provincial areas as needed. Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with the robotic program stakeholders and develop program goals and metrics for HUGO™ RAS-system. Conduct regular program review meetings to remain on-track
  • Develop a surgeon training plan, coordinate attendance at Medtronic’s off-site training and arrange for proctored cases post-training as needed
  • Develop a training plan to support staff to include attendance at a Medtronic off-site training class and support staff through their learning curve
  • Support the technology adoption by attending to cases during a surgeon and staff member’s learning sessions
  • Utilize change management techniques to engage clinical stakeholders and attain buy-in
  • Coach hospitals’ staff to promote skill transfer and achieve self-sufficiency in operational excellence
  • Cooperate with Medtronic field service engineer (FSE) and the hospital staff to prepare the operating room to host the HUGO™ RAS-system.
  • Track milestones to demonstrate the value delivered for the pilot site.


Must-Have:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree or advance degree in any discipline, preferably in Life Sciences, Nursing, Biomedical Engineering, or Humanities, etc.
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in the general surgery, cardiovascular, orthopedic, or other relevant therapy areas supporting clinical procedures in the operating room
  • Demonstrated ability to operate from idea generation, strategy development through detailed implementation and results delivery
  • Must have effective written and communication skills in English and Korean languages
  • Active driver’s license is required
  • Must be flexible, team-oriented, fast-learner, adaptive to changes, and willingness to be trained
  • Ability to interact with multinational employees on different hierarchy levels
  • Good understanding impact of Quality/Regulatory requirements


Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience in project management or implementation of projects for new product launch/landing is highly regarded
  • Change management background
  • Lean Six Sigma certification, especially in manufacturing and/or team ergonomics environment
