 This position will sit within the Infrastructure & Operations division working in the Platform Services organization.  This team has a vision to provide the solid foundational platforms to enable the Medtronic business strategies.  To achieve this vision, our team prioritizes innovation, speed and efficiency to ensure reliable and effective platform capabilities.  There is an emphasis on accelerating the adoption of new and differentiating technology.


A Day in the Life 
  • Partner with Medtronic’s Global Security Office and Global Application Services team to establish architectural patterns for Cloud architecture and new platform capabilities such as AI/ML, Kubernetes, IaaS, and SaaS.
  • Cross-functional team of Architects who are responsible for partnering with R&D and Innovation teams to create global systems that improve healthcare for millions of people.
  • Refine and improve governance through automation, build patterns and practices, and collaboration to ensure designs are effective, efficient, and meet rigorous security and operations standards.
  • Collaborate with development teams and internal stakeholders to capture requirements, specify operational characteristics, and meet compliance measures.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to identify the tools and methods to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Develop and use automation frameworks such as CloudFormation, Bicep, or Terraform to deploy infrastructure as code to private and/or public clouds.
  • Utilize test driven development practices to develop secure, scalable, highly available, and self-healing cloud infrastructure environments that leverage cloud native services
  • Design DevOps CI/CD pipeline integrations to maintain consistent environments across critical applications
  • Troubleshoot network and performance issues in large scale distributed systems
  • Drive change through new technology adoption and re-engineering where necessary to support continuous improvement
  • Provide technical demos to and lead deep-dive discussions with stakeholders
  • Facilitate collaboration, sharing, trust and cross-pollination of skills with Product Owners, designers, and DevOps teams
  • Navigate the technical and the business aspects of design with consultative and cloud practitioner skills
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and 17+ years of experience.
Nice to Have
Strongly Preferred:
  • Hands-on experience in deploying and operating infrastructure components in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Azure Cloud.
  • Hands-on experience in architecting and building Kubernetes infrastructure on AWS and Azure
  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining CI/CD automation processes & pipelines
  • AWS/Azure Certifications
  • Previous Medtronic experience
  • Hands-on experience with ‘Big Data’ technologies like Kafka, Elastic, hBase/Hadoop, Ambari
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) languages like Terraform or Ansible
  • Hands-on experience developing dashboards/alerting via CSP native and ELK tools
  • Programming expertise - can write scripts from scratch in Python, bash, or similar language
  • Experience managing cloud scalability or a mission critical environment
  • Experience in deploying/managing software to on-premises, co-located, cloud, and hybrid cloud.
  • Experience with version control systems with Git such as BitBucket, or Azure DevOps
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, DataDog, etc.
  • Working knowledge of security technologies in a large, distributed, containerized environment; RBAC, SAML, Kerberos, Ranger policies
  • Well-developed social skills to build alliances around DevOps goals and accelerate processes.
