A Day in the Life
The Contract Operations Analyst role will support the Managed Markets team within Strategic Channels. The Contract Operations Analyst will serve as a key partner to Health Plan Solutions, Inside Sales, Strategic Channels, Legal and Compliance by ensuring adherence to Commercial and Government policy guidelines.  Key responsibilities include facilitating external payer compliance audits, facilitating SOX compliance audits, providing feedback and facilitating implementation of solutions to root cause reimbursement issues, and support the paralegal with reviewing and drafting contract documents to assist in the mitigation of legal and operational business risks to the organization through contract lifecycle management of Medtronic's Health Plan Solutions  and Strategic Channels contracts.

 

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Draft, review, and assist in execution of commercial contracts and requisite amendments
  • Identify basic legal issues related to Durable Medical Equipment Sales and Pharmacy Agreements
  • Perform substantive legal work that requires knowledge of legal concepts including analysis and preparing contract summaries
  • Research and resolve issues including, but not limited to: Health Insurance Payment, Authorization, Licensing, Credentialing and Contractual Guidelines.
  • Proactively interact with internal business units in reviewing and finalizing commercial agreements & pricing
  • Interact with external Health Plan customers in support of the negotiation of key contractual Terms and Conditions
  • Resolve routine legal matters in area of responsibility with direct supervision from other experienced personnel, paralegal, manager, and/or Legal Dept., as necessary
  • Help prepare updates to templates, execute amendments or modifications to executed contracts
  • Educate and communicate payer requirements and guidelines specific to Durable Medical Equipment policies, State Mandates and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR’s)
  • Gather and analyze individual payor data to ensure profitability as well as ensuring contractual obligations are being met.
  • Gather and analyze data for claim payments, product denials and sales orders.
  • Participate in other related projects as assigned.
  • Less than 25% travel may be required as part of regular business duties

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant Contract Analyst experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience


Nice to Have

 

  • Five (5) years of billing, claim processing, collections, DME processing or managed care contacting experience within the healthcare industry.
  • Licensing, Credentialing and Accreditation experience for medical device manufactures
  • Understanding of State Medicaid, CMS Regulations and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR’s) specific to Part B and Part D Suppliers
  • Understanding of healthcare industry systems and the financial dynamics of the managed care/heath care industry.
  • Working knowledge of government and managed government programs. 
  • Paralegal Certification plus 2-4 years of relevant Commercial contracting/legal experience with Sales agreements
  • Medical Device, Healthcare, Pharmacy Contracting or Technology industry experience preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple diverse responsibilities in a high paced environment. 
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to resolve issues of conflict in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team as well as being an individual contributor.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage an issue through resolution while keeping all interested parties updated.
