A DevOps Engineer works with developers and the IT staff to oversee the code releases, combining an understanding of both engineering and coding. From creating and implementing systems software to analyzing data to improve the applications and environments, a DevOps Engineer increases productivity in the workplace. They understand the software development lifecycle and have a clear understanding of various automation tools for developing digital pipelines (CI/CD pipelines).


A Day in the Life
  • Responsible for the timely resolution of any “PRB” problem ticket.
  • Overall responsibility for driving incident bridges to resolution, working with IT, Dev, and any other partners to resolve the problem.
  • Responsible for providing tools, knowledge, and guidance to L3 (RunOps team) to ensure effectiveness, this includes procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Responsible for investigating root cause (RCA process) for every PRB ticket in stage, clinical and production environment.  
  • Define L4 24/7 support process and on-call coverage to provide a response within the SLA.

 

 Build and Deployment

  • Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes.
  • Build and support environment builds.
  • Deploy configuration changes to non-prod and prod environments.
  • Deploy software releases non-prod and prod environments.

 Tools

  • Maintain and support infrastructure tools (JIRA, Jenkins)
  • Build tools to reduce occurrences of errors and improve customer experience.

 Planning

  • Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure tools
  • Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to developers
  • Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
  • Participating in the planning out projects and being involved in project management decisions.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Introduces and maintains processes, tools, and methodologies to balance needs throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Conducting requirements gathering and analysis to understand the domain of the software problem and/or functionality, the interfaces between hardware and software, and the overall software characteristics.
  • Applys knowledge of software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes and testing.
  • Engages with Systems teams on development, testing and deployment technologies for developing automated CI/ CD pipelines.
  • Facilitates collaboration among different experts and across toolchains to realize process efficiency.
  • Supports software testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities.
  • Responds to scope changes and codes software enhancements, including cloud-based or internet-related tools.
  • Operational.
  • Ensure uptime of 99.9% and 99% quality of service (degradation) 
  • Install and support 3rd party tooling to support the environment (MuleSoft, etc.)
  • Plan and support maintenance activities (patching, etc.) to hardware and software.
  • Expand infrastructure based on product roadmap to support launch of new features and products.
  • Ensure proper environment documentation.
  • Performance. 
  • Responsible for ensuring capacity, redundancy, scalability and performance of the products and their environments.
  • Disaster Recovery.
  • Monitoring.
  • Ensure all products and environments are monitored.
  • Ensure necessary y monitoring tools are installed with appropriate dashboards in connection with stakeholders (RunOps, Dev, and IT).
  • Enable tooling for self-service of diagnostic logs (server and application)
  • Monitoring application logs to ensure code stability and looking for ways to improve the customer experience.
  • Compliance
  • Ensure GSO, privacy and IT compliance. 
  • Ensure environment certification compliance.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Nice to Have
  •  Experience in Medical devices domain
