Principal Enterprise Soft Test Engineer

The CRM business unit offers devices and therapies to treat abnormal heart rhythms, as well as cardiac diagnostic and monitoring solutions.
As a Principal Software Test Engineer within the CRM Software organization. You will be involved in developing software supporting Medtronic implantable cardiac devices and will operate in all phases and contribute to all activities of the software development process.
A Day in the Life
In general, the following responsibilities apply:
- Guide project test engineering decisions, direction and strategy
- Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, mentoring, and software engineering best practices to junior software engineers.
- Read, analyze, understand product requirements, support requirements reviews.
- Collaborate with other team members and product owners, both inside and outside of the team.
- Design and execute tests using automated test tools, as well as Manual test development process, for the verification of software requirements.
- Work in an evolving, maturing Agile environment as part of a scrum team. Consult with scrum masters, product owners and developers.
- Assist scrum team with debugging and solving issues discovered during testing.
- Effectively work with individuals from various engineering disciplines in a variety of locations, supporting test infrastructure set up and test tool development; such as test tools, stubs, Hardware/Firmware simulators and emulators.
- Establish and maintain traceability from software requirements to verification test design and implementation.
- Participate in the technical reviews of software requirements and peer verification test development.
- Take the high level requirements and independently complete test development per the defined processes.

- B.E/B.Tech .in Computer Science/ Engineering or technically related
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
Specialized Knowledge Required
- Strong knowledge of software design, development, debug and test practices
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with configuration management tools
- Excellent problem solving, analytical skills and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with two or more of the following programming languages: C, C++, Java, Java Script, HTML, VBScript, C#, .NET, Perl, Python, Objective C
- Familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall software development methods
- Familiarity with REST Server and REST interfaces
- Experience with optimizing code quality through use of continuous integration, static code analysis, security vulnerability testing, and unit test coverage.
- Familiarity with driving efficiencies and quality improvements in a continuous improvement engineering environment.
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and the streamlining of the build and deploy process
- Proficiency in developing within the Windows operating system.
- Strong development skills in Visual Studio IDE
- Proficiency in Azure DevOps using Git workflow
- Ability to work on cross-functional project teams comprised of software verification and development engineers, system engineers, human factor engineers and quality engineers
- Ability to test, analyze, and solve technical problems
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Design/test experience working with regulated medical devices
- Experience working within a regulated environment
- Experience with software version control tools
- Quality focus, willingness to learn, versatility and adaptability
