Principal Released Products Electrical Engineer 

Part of the Medtronic Mission is to Alleviate Pain, Restore Health and Extend Life. The Gynecological Health Group in Woburn MA focuses the Mission on Women’s Health. 

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Principal Released Product Electrical Engineer to provide critical technical expertise and leadership in post-market released medical devices.  This role is an individual contributor for the GYN Women’s Health portfolio, under the Medtronic Surgical Operating Unit.  

Responsibilities and Essential Functions of this position include: 

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Lead released product engineering teams through design, planning, developing, testing and analysis during product change implementation to drive improved product performance, reliability, and manufacturability, reduce cost, and / or ensure supply continuity.  
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, CM/OEM, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, and other key functions to achieve business goals. 
  • Leverage solid electrical engineering fundamentals to document clear justification of recommendations and support critical technical decisions. 
  • Create and implement product test plans/protocols, coordinate/execute testing, and generate test reports to ensure product design changes meet specifications, comply with regulations and quality system requirements.
  • Coordinate and prioritize Engineering activities and deliverables to meet project goals and timelines and identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Identify and act on opportunities to implement best practices in projects and processes.

The ideal candidate for this position should have the following qualifications and qualities: 
  • Demonstrated capability/understanding of the design and development of medical devices including electro-mechanical assemblies, mechanisms, metal and plastic components, and manufacturing processes. 
  • Skilled at manipulating 3D models, creating/editing engineering drawings, and familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Design & Tolerancing).   
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with key people inside and outside the organization. 
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Biomedical Engineering, with one or more of the following: 
  • AS with 15 years of relevant experience 
  • BS with 8 years relevant experience 
  • MS with 6 years relevant experience 
  • PhD with 3 years relevant experience
  • Has strong organizational/planning, oral communication, and technical writing skills.
  • Is open-minded, collaborative, curious, strategic, hands-on, able to mentor others and can thrive in both collaborative and independent projects.
  • Comfortable being a highly visible individual contributor presenting & leading projects.
  • May be responsible for the transfer from R&D to manufacturing. 

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

  • R&D Manufacturing Supervisory experience 
  • Mentoring/Leadership Skills

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.​
