Our Danvers Massachusetts facility is looking for a Plant Maintenance Mechanic IV to support Manufacturing and Engineering.  You will work on assignments that are complex in nature.  Train, delegate and review the work of lower level employees and may be responsible for leading daily operations of a work team.  Performs a variety of complex or technical-advanced clerical duties in distribution center.  At this level you often act as a facilitator and team leader in manufacturing / production operations or distribution center.  Work may include complex and complicated activities related to special assignments, and providing instructions to accomplish day-to-day activities to junior individuals in the department .

Maintains and services Facilities electrical equipment and components. Performs skilled repair services of electrical and building systems equipment. Conducts periodic inspections to evaluate requests for repair. Identifies parts needed for replacement and places orders as necessary. Maintain building interior infrastructure.  Complete Facilities work orders

Problems and issues faced are difficult, and may require understanding of multiple issues, job areas or specialties. Analysis provided is in-depth in nature and often provides recommendations on process improvements.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform diversified duties to maintain, repair, align, and adjust all facilities equipment and devices with an emphasis on Electrical distribution systems and components
  • Diagnose causes of malfunctioning of machines, motors, pumps, transformers and related electro/mechanical components.
  • Install IT and telephone cabling.
  • Participate in Facility tenant equipment relocation moves and setups
  • Utilize knowledge of various trades such as electrical, mechanical, carpentry, painting,
  • Assist with snow removal and furniture moving as needed
  • Performs other duties as directed by manager
  • Be available for afterhours emergency call-ins
  • Comply with all Environmental Health and Safety Procedures
  • Perform repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment.
  • Typically performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding.
  • Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
  • Use hand and power tools.
  • Test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment.
  • Use blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education and advanced certification in addition to prior work experience.
  • Current Active Motor Vehicle License
  • Possession of a Current and Active Massachusetts Electrician’s License – Journeyman Level (this license is required due to Massachusetts Regulations concerning work on electrical distribution systems)

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of industrial electrical distribution systems
  • Skilled in use of hand and power tools required in service of electrical equipment.
  • Experience with performing lockout/tagout on simple and complex  electrical distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical hazards and appropriate safety practices required to be observed during equipment servicing to include arc flash and shock protection requirements as outlined in NFPA 70E
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical principles
  • Knowledge of equipment preventive and predictive maintenance principles
  • Ability to inspect and evaluate facilities equipment for proper operation and perform routine maintenance, cleaning and adjustment
  • Abilty to conduct tests on equipment and to analyze and troubleshoot problems in electrical equipment
  • Skilled in the use of electrical testing equipment such as multi-meters, signal tracing equipment, and thermography equipment. 
  • Ability to operate vehicles requiring possession of a DOT medical certificate
  • Progressive technical certifications.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • In depth knowledge of machinery maintenance.
  • Good electrical problem-solving skills.
  • Good mechanical problem-solving skills.
  • Able to define PM procedures and review/maintain spare parts for the equipment.
  • Contact outside vendors for purchasing of materials, components, fixturing, and outside services.
  • Excellent manual dexterity.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of EHS requirements.
  • Able to use Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to escalate equipment downtime.
  • Experience with all requirements of electrical LOTO.
  • Knowledge of the English and Metric measuring systems with the ability to perform mathematical conversions to each.
  • Prioritize and balance workload of multiple project assignments based on business and functional objectives.
