Lab Manager
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (or equivalent) from an AVMA accredited university.
- Board certification from American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine considered valuable.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in an Animal Research Laboratory setting, of which 4 years include managing others, or 5 years relevant experience if Diplomate ACLAM.
- Demonstrated experience operating a GLP animal facility is required. Preference will be given to candidates that have successfully implemented a GLP program for an animal research facility previously.
- Experience caring for & handling a wide range of animal species, including but not limited to, domestic pigs, mongrels, sheep, rats, mice and rabbits.
- Experience serving on an IACUC
- Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills involving direct reports with varying degrees of competency with regards to animal care and use.
- Experience with a range of thoracic and abdominal research models in large animals considered valuable.
- Must have experience with USDA inspections; FDA audits; AAAALC audits.
- Licensure in the State of Connecticut to practice veterinary medicine or ability/willingness to obtain this.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and be comfortable operating in a matrixed environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
