BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME: 
EDUCATION REQUIRED:  
  • High school diploma or GED
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 
  • 4+ years of secretarial/administrative/paralegal experience in the area of intellectual property, with particular emphasis on patents
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: 
  • Knowledge and experience with the practices, policies and systems of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including knowledge regarding preparation of documents that satisfy USPTO requirements and best practices.
  • Knowledge and experience with international and foreign patent filing and prosecution across a wide variety of countries and regional IP organizations (e.g., EPO, WIPO (PCT)), including knowledge regarding preparation and filing of documents that satisfy legal requirements and best practices.
  • Experience with all aspects of MS Office Suite of programs
  • Experience using electronic databases and other electronic information management tools, including USPTO databases and other IP systems (e.g., docket systems)
DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Legal Secretarial certificate
  • Post-secondary degree or education
  • 10+ years of secretarial/administrative experience, with at least 5+ years of IP legal experience with a corporate legal department or law firm
  • Knowledge of USPTO documents, rules and requirements 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to communicate well with people from many parts of the business who process questions to Legal
  • Team player with ability to accommodate differing work styles
  • Ability to maintain composure in high demand and sometimes high stress position
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently, and to adapt to changing priorities
  • Detail oriented
  • Self-motivated and willing to work independently when necessary
  • Strong spelling, grammar and punctuation skills
  • Strong project management, problem-solving and computer skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with tact and confidentiality
  • Willingness to take on challenging projects
  • Experience with WebEx
  • Experience managing calendars electronically, making travel arrangements and processing expense reports
  • Experience with electronic docketing and invoicing systems
