As the Global Talent Acquisition (TA) Leader at Medtronic, you will spearhead the comprehensive strategy and execution of Talent Acquisition for our Global Corporate Functions, including Human Resources, Legal, Communications, IT, Finance, and more. This pivotal role also encompasses the stewardship of Global Talent Intelligence and the orchestration of Diversity Hiring Events. You will play a crucial role in transforming our Global TA operations, fostering an innovative TA culture anchored in a growth mindset, top-tier TA capabilities, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Collaborating extensively across the Medtronic HR landscape, you will be instrumental in crafting and implementing world-class solutions that resonate with both our candidates and internal stakeholders.

Your ability to develop and maintain trust-based relationships with a broad spectrum of stakeholders will be essential. Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Talent Acquisition (GTA), this role will:

  • Craft Global TA Strategies: Direct the formulation of both aggregated and tailored global talent acquisition strategies for various corporate functions, enhancing hiring team competencies with a strong emphasis on quality and inclusive hiring practices.
  • Strategically Develop Customer Engagement: Spearhead a consistent, value-driven strategic customer engagement framework for each global function, integrating data, insights, and strategic programs to fuel continuous improvement and harness external talent intelligence.
  • Build Strong Business Partnerships: Partner with senior business and HR leaders to deepen understanding of business dynamics, aligning TA delivery with talent quality and enhancing candidate and hiring manager experiences.
  • Leverage Metrics for Strategic Insights: Develop, report, and leverage robust and relevant metrics to gauge the effectiveness and capacity of talent acquisition, identifying trends, successes, and areas for performance improvement.
  • Lead and Manage TA Team: Provide strategic leadership and talent management for direct reports and their teams, including resource forecasting, recruiting, hiring, performance management, training, and budgeting.
  • Cultivate a High-Performing Recruitment Team: Commit to engaging leadership practices, including regular one-on-ones and ongoing development conversations, while providing your team with opportunities for professional growth, mentorship, and coaching.
  • Enhance Team Capabilities: Lead continuous development of team capabilities in executing refined Talent Acquisition (TA) solutions and processes.
  • Elevate Candidate Experiences: Lead the execution of industry-leading practices for the end-to-end candidate experience, from sourcing through to onboarding, ensuring seamless transitions.
  • Optimize TA Processes and Technology: Drive relentless enhancement of end-to-end talent acquisition processes and utilization of technology across global corporate functions, collaborating closely with global peers to ensure efficacy and consistency.
  • Innovate in Global Sourcing: Champion the global sourcing and talent intelligence agenda for Medtronic GTA, emphasizing the integration of cutting-edge technology into medical technology. Define a robust strategy, develop tools and capabilities, and foster global cohesion that includes proactive sourcing, recruitment marketing, diversity, equity, inclusion, and strategic capability enhancement aligned with workforce planning and objectives.
  • Align Branding and Inclusion Strategies: Collaborate with global Employer Brand and Global Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (GIDE) teams to finely balance consistency and specific needs during the deployment of innovative talent attraction strategies, messaging, and campaigns.
  • Integrate TA Strategies Across Levels: Ensure the integration of early career/campus and executive TA strategies to meet the holistic goals and achieve successful outcomes with global corporate function customers.
  • Utilize Market Expertise: Offer expertise in market insights and talent landscapes to aid in the development of company growth plans and talent forecasting.
  • Demonstrate Fiscal Responsibility: Model fiscal responsibility by managing budgets effectively and delivering on Annual Operating Plan (AOP) commitments.
  • Adapt and Respond to Needs: Perform related duties as necessary or assigned, adapting to evolving business needs and strategic directions.

Must Have:

  • Educational and Professional Background: Possess a bachelor’s degree coupled with at least 10 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience. This experience should span across multiple talent disciplines, including talent acquisition, to drive a comprehensive talent strategy.
  • Leadership Experience: At least 7 years of leadership experience, including managing other leaders, with a proven track record of fostering strong team alignment, engagement, and achieving superior performance outcomes.
  • Recruitment Event and Strategy Expertise: Demonstrated experience in organizing hiring events and developing effective sourcing strategies, with a keen understanding of optimizing recruitment processes.
  • Global Recruitment Expertise: Deep and broad expertise in recruiting talent through effective strategies across multiple channels and sources, ideally with experience spanning multiple geographies such as the US, EMEA, APAC, and Greater China.
  • Strategic Global Leadership: Experience in leading customer strategies at a global level, with the ability to align talent acquisition strategies with business objectives across different regions and cultures.
  • Financial and Operational Acumen: Strong financial literacy with a demonstrated focus on operational excellence, capable of managing budgets effectively and driving cost-efficient practices in talent acquisition.

 

Nice to Have:

  • Process Improvement Expertise: Experience with 6 Sigma, Lean, or Agile methodologies, particularly within enterprise settings, is highly advantageous.
  • Proven Leadership in Talent Acquisition: At least 5 years of experience in directly leading and developing high performing, engaged Talent Acquisition teams.
  • Team Scaling Experience: Demonstrated ability to scale and expand Talent Acquisition teams effectively to align with evolving business demands.
  • Diversity and Inclusion Strategy: Experience in devising and implementing strategies focused on diversity to significantly enhance equality initiatives within the organization.
  • Analytical Proficiency: A high level of analytical skills, along with superior assessment and judgment capabilities.
  • Industry Experience: Recent experience in a fast-paced, multinational technology environment is preferred, showcasing adaptability to dynamic market conditions. Ideally, within global corporate functions.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong time management, teamwork, follow-through, and organizational skills.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels, fostering strong relationships.
  • Leadership and Mentoring: A proven track record of inspiring, mentoring, and coaching, with the confidence and capability to build and lead a high-performing team.
  • Technological Familiarity: Prior experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), preferably Workday, and familiarity with other TA technologies such as LinkedIn, Talent Neuron, Paradox AI, etc.
  • Recruitment Marketing Knowledge: Knowledge of innovative approaches to drive candidate volume, such as social media, employment branding, advertising, and a deep understanding of the recruitment process workflows and relevant employment laws and regulations.
