This role reports into the Office of Ethics & Compliance Global Auditing & Monitoring (A&M) team. The focus of this team is the continued building and enhancing of global compliance risk assessment, monitoring, and related reporting capabilities with the operating unit and regional compliance functions. This role will work as part of an audit and monitoring COE (Center of Excellence) that performs audit and monitoring procedures as part of a global COE with an anticipated APAC region focus, including the various countries and operating units.
This role is part of the Global Compliance Auditing & Monitoring team within the Office of Ethics & Compliance and will report directly to the Manager, APAC A&M. This role may also include some part-time work in support of APAC Transparency requirements (exact countries to be determined). This role will be classified as remote.
The role consists of 70% audit, 30% transparency responsibilities.
A Day in the life
- Provide A&M test execution support to the Global Compliance Auditing & Monitoring team as required, including project management, test design, key control identification and result scoring skills.
- Execute daily audit and monitoring activities
- Support ongoing effective risk assessment as requested
- Demonstrate basic understanding of control assessment frameworks and methodologies
- Demonstrate ability to identify key risks and the related controls with region, country and/or operating unit processes and design control test steps to address key risks
- Assist in creation of periodic metrics, dashboards, and reporting of APAC monitoring results as requested (or other regions if flex assignments occur)
- Work with key region, country and/or operating unit contacts and stakeholders to present and validate potential issues; facilitate the development of appropriate remediation plans and timelines working with region, country and/or operating unit compliance officers and other Office of Ethics & Compliance Centers of Expertise
- Collaborates with key stakeholders (Corporate/Internal Audit, Legal-Regulatory, Region/Country Compliance, Transparency, Voice Your Concern (Hotline) Staff, etc.) on sensitive projects and tasks
- Handle complex work/projects requiring conceptual and practical subject matter expertise
- Demonstrate keen awareness of project management concepts and methodologies (i.e., effective time management and prioritization strategies)
- Prepare draft report of monitoring findings and communicate results of special projects to management
- Maintain technical competence in auditing, information systems, and compliance policies and government regulations
- Interpret testing results and formulate conclusions and scoring based on assessment of control deficiencies and root causes
- Develop accurate process narratives/flowcharts
- Leverage data and analytic tools as appropriate to achieve greater testing accuracy and efficiency
- Represent the department in a professional, efficient and effective manner in all communication and interactions:
- Serve as a key contact point for Global Compliance Auditing & Monitoring team in its interactions with various businesses and geographies, other Medtronic departments and external entities
- Handle highly sensitive or confidential information
- Provide appropriate information to contacts (handling questions, issues, follow-ups)
- Apply knowledge of business and department objectives and priorities
- Serve as an information resource on organizational practices, policies and procedures
- Handles most issues and requests by executing an alternative on own initiative or recommending best alternative
- Interact professionally with upper management, functional staff, employees, peers, and outside partners on matters of significant importance on a frequent basis. Involves planning and preparation of the communications. Requires skill, tact, persuasion, confidentiality, judgment, and/or negotiation to accomplish objectives.
- Manage additional project work and ad hoc reporting, as assigned.
- As directed, support APAC transparency reporting requirements for countries to be determined
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and minimum of 2 years of related experience. (Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, Compliance, Audit, Legal etc.)
- English language skills, both written and verbal

- Knowledgeable in auditing principles and practices.
- Ability to communicate with a variety of people at differing levels effectively.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote).
- Experience working in a risk or compliance-related function or department
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills required with ability to prioritize.
- Ability to handle difficult situations with poise and professionalism.
- Ability to work well under multiple instructions and directions with tight deadlines.
- High level of energy and willingness to work independently in a “fast-paced” environment.
