The Senior Manager, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) is responsible for managing a team of health economics and outcomes research experts/analysts working across multiple operating units in the cardiac space. S/he will develop, secure support for and implement a vision for HEOR excellence and service delivery necessary to enable evidence-based success in optimizing the Economic Value (EV) of the business portfolio.  A respected expert in HEOR, this leader will develop team capabilities to meet the evidence needs of the business and ensure, collectively, the team develops and executes on reimbursement and HEOR/EV evidence strategies.


A Day In The Life

  • Strategic leader who drives HEOR functional excellence, recognized across the life sciences industry, through clear vision of an HEOR service model and developing team capabilities for the future
  • Designs and implements observational and economic research studies that provide value, perspective and evidence for clinical and/or pre-clinical product portfolio decisions, marketing, regulatory/government agency
  • submissions, and product reimbursement strategies.
  • Compares and evaluates the value of products, therapies and services with the clinical, economic, and quality of life outcomes data from clinical trials and/or epidemiology studies, registries, observational studies,
  • economic modeling, surveys and meta-analysis.
  • Develops country specific evidence to meet requirements for optimal reimbursement coverage and usage
  • Works closely with market access/reimbursement teams to help develop strategies and pricing programs and standardize best practices.
  • Works with clinical research to add relevant health outcomes and economic endpoints to clinical trials and biostatisticians to analyze and report study results.
  • Provide management and leadership to the HEOR analytics team. Sets up a cohesive team of functional experts and fosters team spirit and collaborative working.
  • Drive HEOR functional excellence through mentoring and developing team capabilities for the future.
  • Provides thought leadership on data analytics, big data trends and payer requirements for outcomes and economic data capture and informs business decisions.
  • Assesses and develops the function’s HEOR capabilities in line with business imperatives and needs.
  • Develops analytical bench strength that allows data mining to inform internal strategic decisions, supports economic value evidence generation and enables customer partnerships around data analytics.
  • Fosters strong relationships with reimbursement leaders for each of the business lines as well as clinical and business leaders.
  • Translates economic value evidence into appropriate tools for regional execution.
  • Contributes to functional AOP planning and resource prioritization and manages functional budgets
  • Ensure the team works well across the matrix and product development processes.
  • Establishes development plans for all team members and coaches for success. 



 

 

 

 


 

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years health economics, outcomes research and/or clinical research experience in a medical device or related industry (e.g. Hospital administration, academia) with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years health economics, outcomes research and/or clinical research experience in a medical device or related industry (e.g. Hospital administration, academia) with 5+ years of managerial experience
Nice to Have

  • Graduate degree in health economics, health policy or a related field finance, economics, physical/ biological/life sciences, or related medical/scientific field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of analyses with large health plan administrative and/or claims databases.
  • Experience with designing and conducting outcomes research studies, publication.
  • Demonstrated excellence in economic and outcomes research
  • Experience with economic model development, publication and application
  • Demonstrated influence management skills
  • Strong knowledge of clinical research design and methodologies including statistics, statistical methodology, and application of statistics in scientific / medical research
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) data
  • Familiarity with device-collected data
  • Fluent in programming language (e.g. SAS, SQL, R, etc.)
  • Appreciation for business needs and ability to adapt research methods to best meet these needs
  • Demonstrated success and experience in reimbursement and health economics in the support of product strategies
  • Customer service oriented – leverage expertise as a service model to geography partners and external stakeholders
  • Superior scientific communication – guide team in development of impactful publications and trainings
  • Ability to translate evidence into impactful market access tools
  • Ability to work effectively across the matrix and obtain buy in and support
  • Previous global responsibility or global mindset: good understanding of healthcare trends and payer/ provider needs globally.
  • Committed to quality and rigor and able to ensure team deliverables to high methodological and quality standards.
  • Superior scientific communication to guide team in development of impactful publications and economic messaging.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.
